A number of different series of works are listed below (keep scrolling down)
Banksia series, 2021-2026..ongoing
This series began in 2021 in my immediate environment, observing plants outside my backyard Canberra studio. Memories return of regular
independent after-school expeditions into the bushland of the now named Garigal National Park (established 1991)
and sitting on a Banksia leaf-stained rock shelf beneath B. serrata trees.
Site visits around Australia extends my learning and engagement. The precolonial and ongoing history of these plants is of interest and requires further investigation.
Functional and sculptural works are embellished with a variety of Banksia leaves, rather than the flowers, symbolising hope, resilience and abundance. The use of text and naming systems extends the meaning.
Diverted series, 2024, stoneware and glaze
Deua River series, 2024, clay, glaze and pigment (seven in the series)
Australian Native Plant series
This selection of vessels feature plants including Hardenbergia and a variety of Banksias. They are wheel thrown in porcelain and glazed in a celadon type glaze.
